Coral Gables Waterfront

Miami

A true Collector’s vision inspired this art-forward study. The brief was direct and confident—warm up the gallery white walls and create comfortable living spaces and a decorative experience by balancing a backdrop of color, pattern, texture, and light against a consequential contemporary art collection, and without eclipsing the power and provenance of the artworks. The client’s exact words: “I love color. I can’t live in a white box. This is Miami—Give me all the colors!” The large entertaining family room layered from the ground up atop Diane von Furstenberg’s iconic leopard print in kaleidoscope colors. A thread of red streamlines the dining room, dovetailing art and design. The furniture collection combines vintage and new pieces by living artists as well as Design Icons whose legacies live on through timeless appeal and genius original designs. Careful coordination and cleverly juxtaposed shapes bring a sculptural point-of-view to the furnishings throughout, while a keen focus on comfort and functionality underpins the overall design of each space. Highlights include a custom 3-tiered entry hall chandelier by Jason Koharik, hard-carved millwork by Caleb Woodard, bold rug selections throughout, a classic DMc McSwivel in citron.
